"Called to Care" is a ministry of spiritual healing through service, compassion, prayer, education, health promotion and advocacy.
Whether providing AED training, hosting seminars on insurance and elder care, or assisting those with medical needs, our Parish Nurse provides health resources for our congregation.. The Faith Community Nurse/Parish Nurse utilizes professional expertise to integrate faith and health. The nursing interventions often provided by the Parish Nurse include education, counseling, advocacy and referral.
Our Minister of Visitation visits the home bound and those in the hospital to provide spiritual support and encouragement. She conducts special services in the church and provides communion to those unable to attend church services.
Love to knit? Our prayer shawls ministry provides comfort in the form of beautiful knitted shawls, blessed by the Pastor and given freely to those in need of warmth and love.
If you are handy with woodcarving or even sanding, this may be the ministry for you! Our lovely wooden crosses are given to people in need of spiritual support and comfort.
The mission of the Bereavement Team is to provide support when a church member or family member has passed. The team works in conjunction with the pastor and the shepherd ministry to provide assistance to a family after a loss. Since the formation of the committee three years ago its primary role has evolved into providing help for a memorial service and for supporting a memorial reception if desired by the family. All members of the UCC community could find assisting with this team beneficial.
Shepherds are members of the church who volunteer to be a contact or mentor for another church member, or several church members. Every church member has a shepherd who is available to guide the new member and assist in their feeling connected to the church. Shepherds may meet with their contacts during church, offer a ride, pray together, email, or go out to coffee or lunch. The Shepherds are friends, caring for friends within the church family. The most important tools of the shepherd is the listening ear and a caring heart.
